On Thursday 25th August I went to as The Tangents at The Shed in Leicester. I went with a friend of mine who had not heard of the band but was looking forward to seeing the them live after hearing what I had said about them.

As we got to the venue we were met outside by Angus the drummer of the band who kindly gave me one of the bands CD’s for free and also paid for me and my friend to get into the venue. He even walked us into the venue and we got to also meet Tom the singer and guitarist.

The Tangents opened their set with “Forever More” a great song to start a set with, it’s drum beat and guitar riff at the beginning of the song gets your head nodding and feet tapping. It’s fast and energetic and a song you can’t help but tap along to. They also played “Always”, “Finding the flaw”, “3 stripes” and a cover of The Kinks “All day and all of the night”. I could go on forever about the songs they played but I wouldn’t do them any justice you need to listen to them yourself.

Myself and my friend were both impressed with what we were hearing from the band, my friend said towards the end of the gig “they are brilliant, why haven’t I heard about them before now”. I can honestly say she went into the gig not really knowing much about the band but came out a fan.

After the gig Angus and Tom came over to thank us for coming and asked if we had enjoyed the gig, we spoke for a while mainly about the bands future gig plans and bands that we knew from Leicester and Nottingham. We also spoke a little about the music scene and how difficult it is starting off and trying to get gigs. They were lovely guys and so easy to talk to and you could tell they really appreciated us coming.

All in all a great gig, I stand by what I said in my last review for The Tangents. They are entertaining, exciting and a band to watch out for. They could be the next music success to come out of Nottingham. If you get the chance to see these guys live go for it you won’t be disappointed.
