How did you all meet?
Rob (Burns, Bass and Vocals): I’ve known Chris (Dennett, Vocals and Guitar) for a few years as he was friends with the drummer of the band I was in at the time. He asked me to do some stand in gigs as their then bassist was away on business, and I just never left. Sam and Jack just kind of showed up one day thanks to the wonders of the Internet! and we liked the cut of their gib so they stayed too.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
Rob: Nirvana were the reason I started playing guitar. When everyone else was having their Nu-metal and emo phases I was singing the praises of the 90’s. Considering current fashion trends it looks like I was equal parts well before my time and after.
Sam: We all definitely had kerrang and scuzz on tv a lot in our formative years and that’s certainly a big part of the noise we make now.
What made you want to be in a band?
Rob: I started writing songs and wanted people to hear them. I can’t sing (hence why I do the screaming) and was a bit self-conscious to go it alone, so it only left me with the one option!
Sam: After going stir crazy during lockdown one, the only thing keeping me sane was writing and playing music, and the band serves as a great source of group therapy for all of us.
What has been your best gig?
Rob: The Adelphi at Hull last year was a grand old time, busy room, people were into it, and some even knew the songs! Always a plus…
Sam: Hull was class, but I’m biased because I’m from there. We had an amazing show underground at rebound social in Leeds, which was pretty special as it was the first time a band had played that venue.
Can you tell us a bit about your music?
Rob: Our newest single is called Custom Made Lizard Shoes and it’s out this Friday (29th July) on all good streaming platforms, and a couple of the crappier ones… It’s heavy, poppy, catchy, groovy, loud, quiet, and it has a guest spot from Tom from our fellow Leeds based pals When They Riot. You should really check it out!
Describe your music in 3 words.
Rob: Post-post-hardcore
Sam: Fuzzy mosh Pop
What makes your band stand out from others?
Rob: We’ve got a strong visual style thanks to our friend Jim Vickers (www.fragileart.co.uk). And musically we all come from different backgrounds and have different tastes which helps set things apart!
What are your plans for the rest of 2022?
Rob: Finish and release this EP. It has become an Albatross for this band now… Then we want to tour it.
If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
Rob: The bassist’s impeccable hair.
Sam: The guitarist’s envy of the bassist’s hair
Any gig’s coming up?
Rob: We have one on August 13th in Newcastle with One Million Motors. That should be a fun time. After that nothing until the EP is done and then we’ll be booking a full tour!
