Lost Dogs Of Ultimo started out In Melbourne as a project for myself in 2020 to photograph and film Street Art and record music to add to the little videos I made. I started recording instrumentals usually with a Surf Punk flavour. This has expanded to more lyrical based tracks that I record with themes around usual but sometimes confronting Life experiences like Death and Mental Health issues arising from the harsh lockdowns.
How did you all meet?
Where the Project started with just myself I have been able to collaborate with some amazing Musicians Artists and Activists that I have Played toured or recorded with over many other bands. From Sydney and here in Melbourne
Who were your musical influences growing up?
I grew up in the UK and was drawn to the fast and angry Punk sounds I love MC5 The Clash, The Subways and Fugazi also Alan Vega and Suicide for the Experimental music. The list grows as I am always listening or going to see live music
What made you want to be in a band?
I think I had a lot to say but had no voice to say it with so writing and playing music gave Me that voice and role Models Like Joe Strummer and Iggy Pop showed Me that people had similar views and musical tastes to Me with a style to express those views that I could relate too
What has been your best gig?
That would Be a long time ago in another Punk band called Bits Of Kids and it was our Album Taste This launch night Rob Younger from Radio Birdman produced it for us. The Gig was at Maxs in Sydney with The New Christs and the energy and excitement was next level when your young and your dream has been completed. The Volume was huge and all our friends and family was there.
Can you tell us a bit about your music?
Im currently exploring a more Electronic Experimental Heavy Punk feel with multiple layers of Bass guitar New release on 8th May is an X Ray Specs song Identity to celebrate Polystyrene as an Artist and inspirational vocalist. This was a collaboration I did with Madam Nightingale a Melbourne artist who did a fantastic vocal arrangement putting on an incredible studio performance as The Punk Princess that she is

What makes your band stand out from others?
Im not sure I would say I stand out more than others but I am a creative original Artist that likes to fuse musical genres with experimental forces and share collaborations on this journey and in them collaborations always something special and unique happens
What are your plans for the rest of 2022?
I am hoping to develop an interactive Street Art Music performance where The Musician Artists and Viewers can all interact and collaborate to create something unique at every gig
If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
Any gig’s coming up?
Nothing is scheduled yet but we are negotiating with venues for an appropriate space to showcase the Street Art Music Project
