Pizza Daddy are a band from London. After spending the last 5 years in dream pop band BOYS we decided to take a break and start a new project.

Here’s what Ross had to say when we got a chance to ask some questions.

How did you meet?

“We originally met through friends, we spent many years going to gigs and festivals before starting to make music together, from there the friendship grew”.

Who were your musical influences?

“Growing up we was all into the big indie bands, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys etc. As we got older we started to find new bands and genres that ended up influencing the music we make”.

What made you want to be in a band?

“Like I said before we was always big music fans, going to gigs and festivals etc, but we had never made music or been in a band before. Then one day we decided to give it a go and literally just taught ourselves, the rest they say is history”.

What has been your best gig so far?

“As we only started the Pizza Daddy project at the beginning of this year and with what’s been going on in the world we are yet to play our debut show. With our other band BOYS we’ve been lucky enough to have had a few trips out to the US to play shows. America has always been a huge influence on our music so getting to play there was a dream. We hope return soon with Pizza Daddy”.

Can you tell us a bit about your music?

“With Pizza Daddy we didn’t want to really stray away from the kind of music we wrote as BOYS, but we wanted to try and write the songs in a different way. For these songs we started writing them on a synth and keyboard first rather than a guitar and then went from there. You’ll be able to hear this on our new single ‘Too Many Boyfriends’ out on May 15th”.

Describe your music in three words.

“Dreamy Summer Music”.

What makes your band stand out from others?

“We’ve always been told we don’t sound like your normal London band and sound more American. In truth with the US being such a big influence on our music we take that as a compliment”.

What are your plans for the rest of 2020?

“The plan is to release our debut EP at the end of the year and play our first shows as Pizza Daddy”.

If your band had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?

“I think we would want to be remembered as a band who was always approachable to people after shows, didn’t take ourselves too seriously and always had a fun time playing and making music”.

Any gigs you hope to plan soon?

“No dates booked in yet due to the current problems in the world, but watch this space”.
