Oz has been a songwriter since her early teens, after her father’s passion for music inspired her immersion in the worlds of bold musicians like The Clash, Dolly Parton, No Doubt and Kate Bush. Her fascination with life’s rough edges is surely inspired by her youth spent in her family’s pizzeria in a pre-gentrified Soho.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
“I’ve always had pretty eclectic taste. Everything from Julie London to Dolly Parton to The Clash we listened to everything in my house and anything we could get our hands on so I guess anyone with a story to tell”.
What has been your best gig?
“I haven’t played any gigs with this material yet. Although I’ve been playing shows since I was about 14. I think my favourite show ever was playing Hyde Park Calling one year in a sweaty tent but it was packed out and everyone had a good time”.
Can you tell us a bit about your music?
“I’ve got a 5 track ep coming this year that I’m super proud of. The first single is Money so there’s more coming to keep your ears open for!”
Can you describe your music in 3 words?
“Fierce, fearless, female (sounds a bit like a tampon ad hahah)”
What makes your music stand out?
“I think the fusion of genres is a big part of what makes it interesting. There’s something for everyone in the sound”.
What are your plans for the rest of 2020?
“Well I will be putting out more music with my debut EP very soon which im super excited about and I can’t wait to start playing shows and just getting out in front of people. That’s my favourite thing to do”.
If you had to be remembered for one thing apart from your music what would you want it to be?
“I guess just always sticking to my guns and having a vision ? I’d like to think that’s something to be proud of as a person”.
Any gig’s coming up?
“Nope. CHEERS COVID ! As soon as we’re clear to play and it’s safe to do so I will be on a stage near you ….!!!”
